About Us

Andem Art Studios started as a dream in 2019. The vision was clear: we wanted to create a space that housed private work-spaces for independent artists that have out-grown the community studio setting as well as foster a environment that encourages collaboration. The need for private ceramic spaces in our area was evident and we knew we could provide what artists needed to expand their craft (kilns!) as well as give them a place to feel at home while creating.

Andem Arts officially opened in early 2020 with just 12 private spaces - owners included. During a time of isolation and unease, the studio offered a safe haven for artistic escape. For 3 years we learned what it took to make the business run smoothly and got to know our members on a personal level. We hosted our first sidewalk sale in May of 2021, started renting kiln space to outside artists who needed a place to fire their work, and safely hosted our first in-studio holiday show in December of 2021.

By 2022, dreams of expansion were brewing. With a willing new building owner and a waitlist of artists needing space, construction across the hall began in early 2023. In July of 2023, Andem Art Studios moved in and more than doubled its space! We became the home to over 40 artists - both ceramic as well as mixed media artists. We now had the space to offer our Space Share ceramic membership and host in-house workshops.

Andem Art Studios is a women-owned and operated shared art studio in the heart of Brookline Village, Brookline, Massachusetts. Offering private work spaces as well as shared space ceramic membership, kiln rentals and one-time workshops. We also host open studio shows, sales and exhibitions throughout the year.

Meet the owners

We came together over a love of clay… and created an artistic community.

  • Co-Owner/Founder

Having rekindled her love of ceramics in 2013, Karen took many classes and started to explore her own personal artistic style. She quickly started to outgrow the community studio setting and knew she needed her own space to continue to grow. Walking into Karen’s workspace you’ll see lots of pieces inspired by nature, like her signature Birch vase collection, as well as large vessels like bowls, lamps and even tables. More recently she has been creating bisque-ware pieces for other artists to paint their original designs on.

  • Co-Owner/Founder

Sharrel began her journey with clay in 2014 as a means of art therapy during her treatments for metastatic melanoma and continued to create even after remission. Once she started creating pieces to sell on her website, she knew she could make creating a permanent gig. Sharrel’s style is eclectic and evolving - making whatever brings her joy in the moment! Lots of texture and always functional - sometimes earthy and rustic and more recently delicate lace in porcelain.
